STEEL
by Rebecca Van Alstine
The job of an architect is less romantic in real life, filled with long hours in the office, bogged down by building codes and budgets. Sydney is an ambitious and talented young architect who sacrifices her personal life to get ahead in her career.
When she volunteers for a new project for a famous, boutique hotel brand, she hopes to gain valuable experience under the tutelage of a new principal in her firm. Rodney is a practical, business-oriented architect and Sydney finds herself wanting to impress him. However, as she works with him more, she realizes her desires are less than professional.
Many years her senior, Rodney is drawn to her passion and ambition. Finding her pull irresistible, but unable to envision a future where they can pursue a serious relationship, he cyclically abstains and surrenders.
Hoping to advance her career and professional development, Sydney learns more about protecting her own heart, being wary of her own desires, and how dangerous pursuing her dreams can be.
